The Edison story

Image
I look upon happiness and sorrow alike. In both the situations, I don't abandon the God's name (NAAM). I have faith in the benevolence of the One who forgives me and unites me with himself. Once upon a time there was a woman who was not well and was in coma for a year. All the doctors and her relatives had lost the hope of her waking up.  However, her husband did not give up hope on her and kept talking to her, telling his daily routine, wishes, etc. In the end a miracle happened. After a year, she woke up and said to her husband, that she could hear all that he was saying, it was just that she did not have the ability to come to consciousness and respond to it. The fact that he did not give up on her, made her get back to conscience after a year. You know, Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. LIFE ISN'T EASY. At times it become so tough, that we give up out of exhaustion. Thomas Alva Edison, who faced so many failure initially before succeeding in making a ligh

The synonyms - "Worth" and "Price"

In a beautifully decorated house, once lived a husband named Mr. Henry and his wife Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Jones was reading a letter at breakfast. While reading it, she suddenly looked up at her husband and said, “I have just received a letter from my mother, saying that she isn't accepting the invitation to come and stay with us, as we are not willing to invite her. What does she mean by that? We never told her this. We have always been very eager to have her at our house". She was lost in thoughts. Immediately she asked her husband (as a confirmation), if he had written that she was to come at her own  convenience .   Mr. Henry faltered a bit, and said   “err, yes, I did”. After a while, he said,  “ Actually, I couldn't spell the word  “ convenience ”  so instead I wrote  “ risk ”.  I presume, you can now make out the whole meaning of the   letter which said she had to come at her own   risk. A little twist in words changed the meaning completely. Right. In English, the w

That Buddhist saint

By listening to those at great heights, of great achievers, even insects want to imitate and reach the skies Have you all heard about Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and do you know what was he lovingly called? Yes, he was called as त्याग मल , because of his kind attitude of keeping others' need before his own. Just like him, there was a great Buddhist saint Nagarjuna who moved around naked except for a loincloth, but strangely had a golden begging bowl which was gifted to him by his disciple who was a king. One night, he was about to lie down to sleep among the debris of an ancient monastery, when he spotted a thief, standing behind one of the columns, trying to steal some ancient archaeological objects. “Here take this”, said Nagarjuna, holding the golden begging bowl. The thief eagerly grabbed the bowl and went away. In the morning he came back with the bowl and told Nagarjuna - “When you had given me such an expensive bowl, without having any second thoughts, it made me feel very po

Shop-O-localholic

Let's Go Local Click here to see the Vlog Hello Friends, do you know who am I? I am a  Shop-o-localholic.  Do you know what it means? It means that I have decided to support the locally owned small businesses who are  experiencing adverse impacts emotionally, physically and monetarily during this time of slow down. Someone has rightly called  small businesses as Job Creators.  Local businesses hire locally, thus creating jobs for existing and new job seekers,  hence bringing them out of unemployment and distress. By becoming a  Shop- O-localholic,  we end up spending locally and the revenue generated is reinvested in the local economy, resulting in improvement of community.  A  Shop-O-localholic  is also an  environment friendly person  as buying locally results in lower transportation needs  and hence resulting in better air quality and less wastage of precious fuel.  By supporting the locally-owned businesses a  shop-O-lo

It is time for India to redesign her foreign policy

A foreign policy should cater to the national interest and at the same time establish a rightful place among other nations of the world. More importantly it should lead to friendly relationships with neighbouring nations. With the recent developments with our neighbouring nations like Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and SriLanka, I strongly feel that India needs to redesign her foreign policy. There were many instances where, as a good neighbouring country we were not able to help these nations, and our adversary China took advantage of this, pushing their claims and disrupting our relations with these countries. In this context, India's traditional foreign policy doctrines based on ideals of  Non-Aligned Movement  and Panchsheel would not help attain our strategic goals. India needs to change their approach within the neighbourhood to be more flexible, and willing to give more with a long-term strategic vision to gain greater advantage. At the same time India should have strong all

Enrollment in Defence services is the best way to make good citizens.

You all must have heard this line that in order to fight COVID virus we need to have a strong immunity. But who  needs to care for our health? And who needs to work towards maintaining it? It is us. We all need to protect our body from being attacked by any diseases.  In the similar way the defence forces protect our country from external attacks and at the same time we need good, responsible, disciplined, and selfless citizens to help make the nation progressive and strong internally. If you check, all these are the traits of a great defence personnel.  For this reason we should enroll ourselves in the defence services, as it teaches us to fight for and protect our rights, and stand strong against all odds. It helps in inculcating moral values and discipline in day to day life which would make us more efficient at what we do and hence will contribute to the growth of our country . Different regiments in the forces communicate the practice of “Unity in Diversity” , real meanin
